A story so insane...
... that you couldn't even make it up.
The other day my boss, Mr. Martinez, told my co-workers and I, a story about his adventure in getting to the airport this past weekend. He prefaced it by telling us, that "you probably won't believe me, b/c it's so ridiculous, even I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't lived through it."
I relayed the story to my friend Chaz through IM right after Mr. Martinez told us, so I figured I might as well just copy and paste that convo here, b/c I'm too lazy to rewrite the whole thing again, lol.
SuperSaiyaJinDX (12:32:57 AM): dude, my boss just told us the craziest story!
SuperSaiyaJinDX (12:33:12 AM): it was like something out of a movie, lol
Mrwhale Jr (12:33:12 AM): what?
SuperSaiyaJinDX (12:33:24 AM): on friday he was going to the airport
SuperSaiyaJinDX (12:33:33 AM): he doesn't have a car, so he takes the train to the bus

Mrwhale Jr (12:33:48 AM): and they were filming a new Shotgun Saturday Night?
SuperSaiyaJinDX (12:33:59 AM): well, he had a flight at 2:30 and left at 12. b/c it only takes a half hour to get to the terminal
SuperSaiyaJinDX (12:34:23 AM): well turns out there is an accident before the bridge so they are stuck in traffic while on the bus for over 2 hours
Mrwhale Jr (12:34:25 AM): iffy, but ok
Mrwhale Jr (12:34:35 AM): oh geez
SuperSaiyaJinDX (12:34:54 AM): so mr. martinez is obviously gonna miss his flight, as are many of the passengers on the bus (cuz obviously they are all going to the airport)
SuperSaiyaJinDX (12:35:02 AM): so u got a bus full of angry people

SuperSaiyaJinDX (12:35:56 AM): well they get to an intersection and this car across from them tries to make a turn against the light, but can't so he is stuck in the middle of the intersection pretty much, just as the bus is about to make the same turn
SuperSaiyaJinDX (12:36:05 AM): so the dude in the car is obviously in the wrong
Mrwhale Jr (12:36:19 AM): oh geez
SuperSaiyaJinDX (12:36:30 AM): yet he starts honking and yelling and basically screaming for the BUS to back up to let him pass
SuperSaiyaJinDX (12:36:41 AM): and the bus driver is basically like "screw u, YOU back up"
SuperSaiyaJinDX (12:37:06 AM): cuz as i'm sure u know it's a lot easier to back up a car than a bus. plus the car was in the wrong anyways

SuperSaiyaJinDX (12:37:18 AM): well guy in car refuses. and gets even more pissed
SuperSaiyaJinDX (12:37:36 AM): so bus driver just puts the bus in park and closes the window, basically just waiting for the car to give in

SuperSaiyaJinDX (12:37:55 AM): well dude in the car gets out of his car and starts banging on the glass of the bus
SuperSaiyaJinDX (12:38:40 AM): bus driver then opens the door and dude from car runs around the bus, INTO the bus and him and the bus driver start BRAWLING in the front of the bus

SuperSaiyaJinDX (12:40:28 AM): there is more about mr. martinez trying to get a ticket, but i think the brawl was the highlight

Mrwhale Jr (12:45:45 AM): I wound up having to go to the airport the next day to get it

I realize the last quarter of that transcript really didn't have much to do with the story, but I left it in as a warning to anyone out there who might ever consider taking US Airways to go anywhere- Don't do it!
As for the fight, my boss explained it in a bit better detail. He said the guy from the car ran into the bus and punched the driver, so the driver got out of his seat and they were throwing punches at each other like crazy, hitting each other in the face a few times and everything. That must've been one hell of a sight. I have no idea what I would have done if I was on that bus (especially if I was sitting in the front). But yeah, that's the type of thing that can only happen in New York, and even then, it's hard to believe.
